‘Double Vodka and Blackcurrant’ (2023) was supported by Northern Ireland Screen through their spring 2022 Short Film Funding Call. The short film is a slice-of-life piece which portrays the midweek, hungover experience of friends living together for university in Belfast.
The film blends the grounded, observational, and fly on the wall style of social realism with the humorous and colourful experiences that occur when you’re a student and surrounded by close friends.
'Double Vodka and Blackcurrant' had its festival premiere at the BAFTA qualifying 23rd Belfast Film Festival in November 2023 and was selected as the Northern Ireland finalist for the BIFA qualifying BFI Future Film Festival 2024. The film was nominated for an award in the 'Best Writer' category in addition to being screened at the BFI Southbank in London and the Nerve Centre in Derry. 'Double Vodka and Blackcurrant' was also shown in 2024 during the 25th Kerry International Film Festival, Louth International Film Festival and Cinemagic's On the Pulse Short Film Festival at Queen's Film Theatre, Belfast.
