'Shea and Hannah' (2021) takes place the morning after a night out and focuses on the conversation between two young people as they ruminate on life and relationships. (17 minutes).​​​​​​​ The full short film is available to watch for free on Youtube - linked below.

The slice-of-life, chamber piece was funded by the Northern Ireland Office via their 21 Artists for the 21st Century mentor programme, a scheme which supported a diverse range of creative talent across a plethora of art forms. The project was Dean's first funded short film as a writer/director. It portrays the pillow talk between two young people in a situationship and "offers a candid account of the awkward and endearing sex of the 21st century" - The University Times.
‘Shea and Hannah’ screened in competition at the 22nd Belfast Film Festival in addition to the Young Filmmakers in Focus showcase​​​​​​​ at the 35th Foyle Film Festival. The film was also selected for Disappear Here Film Festival, Mayo International Film Festival and Louth International Film Festival - where Dean was nominated for the ‘Best Director’ award in 2022.​​​​​​​
