The slice-of-life, chamber piece was funded by the Northern Ireland Office via their 21 Artists for the 21st Century mentor programme, a scheme which supported a diverse range of creative talent across a plethora of art forms. The project was Dean's first funded short film as a writer/director. It portrays the pillow talk between two young people in a situationship and "offers a candid account of the awkward and endearing sex of the 21st century" - The University Times.
‘Shea and Hannah’ screened in competition at the 22nd Belfast Film Festival in addition to the Young Filmmakers in Focus showcase at the 35th Foyle Film Festival. The film was also selected for Disappear Here Film Festival, Mayo International Film Festival and Louth International Film Festival - where Dean was nominated for the ‘Best Director’ award in 2022.
